Success in South Africa

Great results for Robert Swanepoel.

It's always great to hear about pigeons that have their roots with Interpalomas Lofts. We were glad to learn that Robert Swanepoel has achieved great results this year with pigeons from the De Weerd strain.
He wrote us the following in his e-mail:

"I am pleased to inform you that the pigeons have done very well again this year.

2156109 is now grand dam to 2 pigeons that have won 2nd Union two weeks in a row. This week one was 2nd from 800km and last week the other was second from 700km. (134 fanciers competing)

This weekend we also had our 1050km classic race from Kroonstad and a grand son of 1997365 scored 1st Union out of 134 members with the fastest or 2nd fastest time on the transporter!

1997365 is also the grand Sire of the 2 pigeons scoring 2nd Union as per above :)

Fantastic pigeons!"

NL 09-3913956

1st NPO. Afd. Brabant 2000 from Poitiers versus 3366 pigeons.

Belgica de Weerd Team
(Raced in the name of J.G. van Wanrooij)
"Lichte Rocket 956" a light check cock, bred as a summer youngster at lofts of Interpalomas out of a family of winners.
Father: “Sander 541”. Bought at public sale P. Embrechts-Theunis Hoeven and directly from Jac Konings, St. Willebrord. Already father from the 8th NPO. OrlĂ©ans, the TV winner and many other winners.
Mother: “Rocket 480”. A direct daughter of “Dragon Rocket” a world class breeder and father of 5 teletekst pigeons and grandfather of more than 20 winners. Purchased by Henk de Weerd at the public sale from P. Embrechts-Theunis Rocket-line M. van Gastel Roosendaal. Maited with “Miss la Souterraine” the National winner from La Souterraine 2007 Belgium at Stefan and Albert van Steenbergen, Herk de Stad.

The loftmanagers Jan van Wanrooij and Nic de Winter divide the tasks at the lofts under the supervision of Dr. Henk de Weerd and of course follow the success programme of Belgica de Weerd.
Feeding happens in the traditional way; light at the beginning of the week and building up towards the day of basketing. Five different blends are mixed together and served 2 times a day. All extra products such as grit and minerals are present at all times.
The “Lichten Rocket 956” was played at traditional widowhood system. Coupled halfway January and basketed weekly from the beginning of April. The cocks were kept in the dark at the beginning of the season and the hens weren't shown until 2 weeks before the first one-day race from Bourges.
The reason for this is that last season the pigeons came at home with superb results from the first flight on. I.A. The first 2, first 4, first 6, first 9 prize in club. But also in team play Brabant Noord 1st, 1st and 2nd prize, In the Rayon 2nd and 3rd prize in the vitesse and middle distance races but when started at the one day races it seemed that they were already over the top.
As a youngster this pigeon won his prices, a.i. 10th from St. Quentin. In 2010 as yearling he was raced on the short and middle distances, winning 6 prizes out of 11 basketings. After that he played twice in a one-day long distance race and won prizes from Blois and Chateauroux. This year (2011) he has won prizes from Bourges, Chateauroux, and now he's 1st NPO Poitiers.
